A walk in the woods

Today before lunch, a small group of us hiked through some serious wilderness to see the natural spring where Nueva San Ysidro's water comes from. We were lead by Juan and Marco Tulio, two brothers who live in the community. The water is cold and clear and runs through these massive boulders that form a sort of cave. The cave had drawings of stick figures on its walls, which our guides said were "very old." 

We hiked over another mountain for a gorgeous view down into the village and around the Copan valley. The whole place had an untouched feeling about it, like not a lot of people had ever seen what we saw. Moving.
