Lena goes to church (!)

The whole group went to church in Nueva San Ysidro this morning. The church was a small, one room house. Sticks, mud, corrugated metal roof. The walls inside were painted over. Wooden benches for pews. A simple wooden cross and a framed picture of Jesus.

Different people took turns reading from the Bible. There was also a short sermon. Lots of singing. And a pretty decent band (three brothers, two guitars, one singer). There was one Bible on the lectern and one hymnal for the band.

This blackboard was on one of the walls in the church. It reads, "Why is education important? Because education is a right." Amen.

  1. What kind of church was it? I hear that the fundamentalist churches are big and getting bigger down there?
