La comida

So Las Mercedes. Here's a typical house. This one belongs to Maria Santos and Julio, an older couple with a lot of kids (mostly grown-ups now). One of their daughters, Joaquina, lives with the Wheelers in Tegus and goes to sewing school. Dogs, cows, chickens and a turkey in the yard. This is where we ate all of our meals. Gloria cooked inside on one of Heifer's eco-friendly stoves. Breakfast lunch and dinner. Lots of beans. Lots of tortillas. The best meal was probably pupusas. Delicious tortillas that look normal on the outside but have melted cheese somehow stuffed inside.
