La Esperanza, the hospital
Last Thursday I left with Gloria and the Duke group for a medical trip to Las Mercedes. We drove the Heifer bus from Tegucigalpa which took about 5 hours. Before heading into the mountains, we stopped in La Esperanza, which is maybe an hour outside of Las Mercedes. Took a tour of the hospital there, which is one of few in Honduras. It felt like being in a hospital in the 1950s. Or one of those clinics in old World War II movies. Lots of beds. Lots of people.
